Web Examples for November 2007 Dec 7, 2007 1:50 PM
LESSON PLAN: Film Scoring in the Music Classroom (pg. 30) Web Example 1: ClassicT1948: This series of vintage TV commercials are mighty campy, which could inspire some off-the-wall student scores. Web Example 2: The Letter: In this stop-action animation, a Lego man in Legoland tries to mail a letter. There are plenty of scoring opportunities here. TIPS AND TECHNIQUES: Arranging Drum Parts III (pg. 34) Web Example 1: In this example, there is no EQ applied to the first two bars. In measures 3 and 4, the low end is attenuated, whereas in bars 5 and 6, the high end is attenuated. In measures 7 and 8, both the low and high ends are attenuated. Listen for the differences in these EQ settings. Web Example 2: Here, a chorus effect is added to the drums in measure 3, which animates and smears the drum sounds, especially the cymbals. Web Example 3: In this example, you can hear the flanging effect added to the drum kit. The effect is increased during the drum fills in measures 4 and 8. Web Example 4: Delay is added to the entire drum track starting at measure 5. You can hear how this double-time effect changes the feel of the music. Web Example 5: Here, listen to the kit as well as the tambourine, triangle, and bell tree. In measure 6, a large amount of reverb is added to the tambourine, triangle, and bell tree. Notice how these instruments shimmer much longer and create a much larger sense of space. Web Example 6: In this example, distortion is added to the drum track in measure 5. You can hear how this makes the sound more coarse. |
